The Art of Framing: Elevating Your Artwork to Its Full Potential
Framing is often the final step in bringing a piece of art to life, and it’s a process that requires as much attention to detail and craftsmanship as the creation of the artwork itself. For me, framing isn’t simply about protecting the piece—it's about enhancing its visual impact and ensuring its longevity. Every original piece I create is carefully framed with museum-grade, conservation-quality materials, ensuring that the art remains pristine for decades to come while adding depth and elegance to its presentation.

Conservation Framing: Protecting What Matters Most
The choice of materials in framing is crucial, as they play a significant role in preserving the integrity of the artwork. I use certified conservation framing techniques, which not only safeguard the piece from light, dust, and moisture but also ensure that it remains as vibrant and intact as the day it was completed. This high level of care means the artwork will continue to hold its beauty over time, maintaining its original form and avoiding the degradation that can happen with inferior framing methods.
The framing process isn’t just about protection; it’s also about creating an aesthetic experience that honors the work itself. Every frame I choose complements the art, enhancing the details without overpowering the piece. This careful consideration helps ensure that each artwork is presented in the best possible way, inviting the viewer to appreciate its nuances and craftsmanship.

Floating Mounts: Elevating the Artwork
One of my favorite framing techniques is the floating mount format. This method adds a sense of depth and dimension, giving the artwork the appearance of being suspended within the frame. By allowing the edges of the paper to remain visible, the floating mount highlights the natural texture of the material, adding an organic, tactile quality to the piece.
This is particularly important when working with high-quality materials like Arches Aquarelle French cotton paper. The deckled edges, created naturally when the paper is torn from the roll, add a unique touch that can be easily lost with standard framing methods. The floating mount not only showcases the beauty of the paper's texture but also emphasizes the archival properties of the material, preserving the art for future generations.

A Personal Touch: Embossing the Series
For me, framing is an opportunity to add a personal, conceptual element to each piece. One of the signature details I incorporate is a custom embossed mark on each artwork. This small but significant touch is something I’ve included in both the Cool Bs and Baby Paws collections. The embossed mark serves as a subtle identifier, tying the pieces together and adding a layer of uniqueness that connects each work to the broader series.
It’s a playful, yet meaningful detail that enhances the story behind each collection. The embossed mark creates cohesion across the series while offering collectors a special connection to the work. It’s a reminder of the thought and care that goes into every aspect of the piece, from the art itself to the framing process.

Framing as an Extension of the Creative Process
For me, framing is not just about finishing the artwork; it's an extension of the creative journey. It’s about ensuring that every piece not only looks its best but also stands the test of time. From selecting the highest quality materials to adding personal details like the embossed mark, every aspect of the framing process is thoughtfully considered to enhance the overall experience for the collector.
When you invest in an original piece of art, the presentation is just as important as the work itself. By choosing to frame the artwork with care, you’re not only preserving its integrity but also enhancing its visual and emotional impact. It’s the finishing touch that brings the entire piece to life and ensures that it will continue to inspire for years to come.
